Does Pennsylvania require me to recycle electronics?
Currently Pennsylvania’s law does not require you to recycle electronics. The items that we do recycle are recycled within the guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, within EPA Regulations/Standards Rules 67 FR 40508 and 40 CFR Parts 260, 261, 264, 265, 268, 270, and 273, AND the mandates of the Basel Action Network (BAN) Pledge of True Stewardship

These electronics containing hazardous materials end up in landfills. If they don’t end up in our own country, they are exported to countries that do not have the infrastructure to protect their people and environment. It is the responsibility of recyclers and exporters to ensure that the ultimate end use is certified, safe and environmentally friendly.
